21st June 2009 (Tewkesbury)
For our second 4am adventure we were more organised and had decided to drive out to Tewkesbury after getting an early night. Hitting the M5 in the early hours when your boyfriend drove an Alfa Romeo 166 Sport is an experience in itself (although obviously he didn't break the speed limit) and Tewkesbury looked charming.
It was surprisingly light and we caught the dawn chorus which was really lovely. In many ways it was eerier than Gloucester had been in the dark; rather reminiscent of the opening scene to 28 Days Later. We walked around the Abbey before heading along the High Street and out to the river.
