Let's start with the money!
I like to think of myself as a bit of a polymath or Renaissance woman. I hold a doctorate in politics but my career has largely been in marketing. When I got married in 2012 the word I chose to define myself was entrepreneur because while my day job at that point was the owner of a copywriting agency, it felt very static to define myself as a copywriter. I now have two new businesses about to go live. They are rooted in the skills developed in owning Less Ordinary Content but are in very different industries; property management and alternative lifestyles.
But working to live, not living to work.
While I'm no longer directly involved in academia it is still a huge part of my life. Research plays a huge role in how I have developed my business portfolio and how I design my life. For my focus has and always been the bigger picture.
I'm reluctant to answer the question of 'What do you do?' with how I make money. What I do is try to live in a way that nurtures my marriage and the children we have. So my projects, be they growing herbs or learning to baby sign, are often as significant to me as my businesses.
I'd like to say it all comes together but it doesn't. I'm an overstretched, working mother who is far to grumpy towards the love of her life. But I'm working on it!
