Panasonic Lumix TZ5

Picture
Statue at Chatsworth House
In September 2008 I bought a Panasonic Lumix TZ5. I was back in the UK for a visit and wanted a camera that had a bit more to it than my previous and very basic compact. I had taken some lovely photos but felt I could do better. I took hundreds of photos with it as I travelled through Russia, Mongolia, China and Hong Kong on my way back to Kuala Lumpur and took more on trips to Cambodia, Thailand and Indonesia. I was delighted with the results.

When I returned to the UK in April 2009 I began a photo blog called The Real Voyage of Discovery and found that taking a picture every day really changed my perception of simple everyday things. It also saw my photography improve immensely until eventually I began to feel the limitations of the TZ5. Particularly it took beautiful shots in natural daylight but could be very ad hoc in low light. It was time for a DSLR.
